Klettur (2017-2014) er innsetning Hreins Friðfinnssonar þar sem sjávaröldum er varpað á stórskorið landslag samsett úr margskonar pappakössum þar sem gegnum gangandi þema verksins er hinn gullni spírall oftast kenndur við Fibonacci. Opnunin fer fram laugardaginn 20. janúar frá kl.16-18 en sýningin stendur til 3. mars 2024.
Hreinn Friðfinsson fæddist á Bæ í Dölum árið 1943 og útskrifaðist frá Handíða- og myndlistaskóla Íslands 1960. Hann er einn af frumkvöðlum nýlistar og hugmyndalistar hér á landi og var m.a. einn af stofnendum SÚM.
Verk Hreins eru í senn ljóðræn og heimspekileg og snúast iðulega um eitthvað sem ekki er eða eitthvað loftkennt og ósnertanlegt eins og ljósið eða vindinn. Hreinn hefur sýnt verk sín víða um heim, meðal annars yfirlit sýningin: To Catch a Fish with a Song, Centre d’Art Contemporain, Geneva og KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin (2019) Midnight Jump, Rozenstraat - a rose is a rose is a rose, Amsterdam (2020) For the Time Being, MOAD - Museum of Art and Design, Miami, Florida (2021) Arter, Istanbul (2021,2022) Musée d'Art Contemporain de Lyon, Lyon (2022).
Klettur (2017-2024) is an installation by Hreinn Friðfinnsson where images of ocean waves are projected onto a rugged landscape constructed of stacked cardboard boxes, amongst which can be found a variety of artefacts that display the natural ordering principle of the Fibonacci sequence. The opening takes place on January 20, from 4-6, all welcome!
Hreinn Friðfinnsson was born in Bær Dölum, Iceland in 1943 and has lived and worked in Amsterdam, The Netherlands since 1971. He graduated from the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts in Reykjavik in 1958 and co-founded the influential Icelandic artist group SÚM in 1969. Friðfinnsson has exhibited widely internationally, including major solo shows at the Malmö Konsthall in Malmö, Sweden (1978 and 2008); Le Magasin-Centre national d’art contemporain in Grenoble, France (1987); the National Gallery in Reykjavik, Iceland (1993); the Kyoto Art Center, Japan (2002); the Domaine de Kerguéhennec in Bignan, France (2002); the Serpentine Gallery, London, United Kingdom (2007); the Centre d’art Contemporain in Geneva, Switzerland (2010); the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, Germany (2019); and the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida, United States (2021-2022). In 1993, Friðfinnsson represented Iceland at the Venice Biennale, and in 2000, he received the prestigious Ars Fennica Prize.
